Caring for Your Easter Lilies
If you’ve had the great pleasure of receiving beautiful Easter lilies this spring, you might be wondering how to care for them. Here are a few simple tips to help!
- Water the plant when the soil becomes visibly dry, usually every other day or every third day.
- Always remove withering, past-prime blooms, as they absorb valuable energy the plant needs for new buds.
- Make sure to remove the anthers (which carry the pollen) from open blooms. If not removed, they can stain the pure white blooms and reduce their longevity. Try wearing gloves when removing these anthers, as the pollen can also stain your hands!
- If pollen sheds on the flowers, use a very soft object (like a pipe cleaner) to gently sweep if off the bloom.
If pollen gets on your clothing, do not rub it in or get it wet! We recommend using tape to pull the pollen off the fabric, preventing it from being rubbed in and leaving a stain.
